Two persons, who were reported missing following last Monday’s attack by gunmen suspected to be cattle rustlers at Sukuku village were on Thursday found dead in the bush at the community.
The gunmen had on Monday invaded the village, located in Kwali Area Council and killed the village head, Mr. Emma Sarki and six others, after they were caught at a farm where they were removing yam seeds in the area.
Our reporter, who visited the community on Thursday, learnt that one of the corpses, an adult male, was found inside a bush few meters away from the village on Tuesday evening.
A resident of the community, Musa Danjuma, said the second corpse was also found in the bush outside the village, after some elders and youth mobilised a search of the bush for the two missing persons.
“It was this morning when we started perceiving smell that we mobilised to trace the source and later discovered the decomposing corpse of one of the missing persons, while the other corpse was found on Tuesday evening also inside the bush,” he said.
Our reporter saw relatives digging graves inside two compounds, apparently to bury the two corpses while six other graves, including that of the slain village head, were also seen inside a compound.
The residents were seen still wearing mournful look and the primary school in the area remaining closed over the deaths.
City News reporter, while on his way out of the community, saw a combined team of the police anti-terror squad and policemen in two Hilux vehicles moving towards the village.
